In a time when we seem to be losing touch with nature and the world around us, what better start in life to give your children than letting them attend a Beach Nursery!
Beach Nurseries are a way of giving children in their early years the opportunity to learn and develop in a natural environment, sparking their natural motivations to explore, create and be curious about the world around them.
Like our sister nurseries Wild Monkeys Childcare and Wild Monkeys Nature Nursery, our Beach Nursery follows the same ethos.
So, what is Beach Nursery?
A Beach Nursery is a way of giving children in their early years the opportunity to learn and develop in a natural environment, sparking their natural motivations to explore, create and be curious about the world around them. Essentially we deliver a nature-based, child-led learning experience, come rain or shine, letting children get hands-on with nature and the natural environment.
At Wild Monkeys, our main Beach sessions happen several times per week, spread out to make sure that as many children as possible can take part in sessions, which is why we ask parents to always send their children in with suitable clothing for the weather!
What does my child gain from Beach Nursery?
Beach Nurseries encourage children to work together, helping them to develop their social skills and their communication & language skills. It also helps their fine and gross motor skills, especially as they will be exploring the local beaches and rock pools!
Being outside improves mental and physical health, communication, and social relationships – and more. Today, only 21% of children in the UK regularly play outside! Beach Nursery encourages children to enjoy being outdoors, and lets them teach themselves how to create their own play and learning opportunities, important skills for childhood and adulthood.
How does Wild Monkeys Nursery offer their Beach School provision?
Due to our setting location and Peacehaven being a seaside town, we are extremely lucky to be only a few minutes walk from the beach. This will enable regular trips to the seaside to explore the changing marine environment.
Our qualified Forest School Lead Rachelle from Wild Monkeys Childcare will lead this program and ensure our staff are trained and always up-to-date with the current policies and standards.
These sessions will include activities such as Crab hunting, collecting and decorating rocks and stories about the ocean and it's wildlife. All of the activities support the EYFS.
When not at the beach our children will have access to the garden every day, no matter the weather, and we encourage all of our children to spend time outside every day.
